If Your Child Is Unwell

IF YOU CHILD IS UNWELL

  • If a child appears ill or informs an adult that s/he is feeling unwell, then one of our team will comfort the child.
  • We will contact the child’s parent/carer immediately.
  • Similarly, if a child has an accident at school, parents will be informed, either immediately, by telephone or by a letter at the end of the day, depending on the severity of the accident.
  • Parents are always informed if a child bumps his/her head.
  • Minor cuts and grazes are treated by first aiders
  • All accidents, no matter how minor, are recorded in our Accident Book and parents / carers will receive a copy of the report.

ABSENCE DUE TO ILLNESS

If your child is ill, please notify the school office as soon as possible.

IF A CHILD APPEARS UNWELL

Parents/carers play an important part in ensuring that our COVID protective measures work effectively.

Please see below the expectations that we will require you to follow:

Symptoms

We will call you to collect your child and take them home if they have one or more of the following symptoms which could indicate Coronavirus (even if mild):

  • a new, continuous cough; or
  • a high temperature (a temperature of 37.9C or more); or
  • loss of, or change in, their normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

Isolate

  • Any child with suspected symptoms at Pembury will be isolated immediately and parents/carers will be called to come and collect them.
  • The child and their household should go home and isolate straight away

Testing

  • Parents/carers must immediately call 119 or visit https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test to access PCR testing if their child shows symptoms, and report back to the school with the result as soon as possible – all children can be tested, including children under 5, but children aged 11 and under will need to be helped by their parents/carers if using a home testing kit
  • Locally there is walk- in PCR testing at: Haringey Cultural & Community Irish Centre, Pretoria Road, London, N17 8DX
  • Alternatively you can order PCR tests online to arrive by post
  • Where a child tests negative, they can return to Pembury as soon as they feel better and their fellow household members can end their self-isolation
  • Please advise Morning Star Nursery of the results
